David, who passed away at the age of 68 after losing his battle with cancer, enjoyed a successful playing career with Gloucestershire before becoming a hugely respected international umpire.
He was awarded the MBE for services to cricket in 1987 and became the president of his home county club Devon in 2006.
He died aged 68 on 28 October, 2009, after a long struggle with cancer. He left behind his long-term partner Jenny whom he had married the previous year.
